Carol Seehusen

Ph.D., LMHC (IA), LCPC (IL), NCC, CCMHC, ACS, CERTIFIED BRAINSPOTTER

Carol is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. Carol completed her Bachelor’s (BA) degree from the University of Iowa with a focus in psychology and sociology, her Master of Science (MS) degree from Walden University with a focus in clinical mental health counseling, and her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Iowa with a focus in counselor education and supervision.

Carol has worked in multiple mental health settings since graduating from her undergraduate studies in 2008 – community-based, PMIC (Psychiatric Mental Institute for Children) residential, inpatient hospital psychiatric unit, and outpatient mental health clinic. For the last two years, Carol has maintained a private clinical practice treating individuals with chronic pain, chronic illness, trauma, life transition struggles, interpersonal conflicts, and mood disorders in rural Iowa.

Carol has researched and published works in textbooks, international peer-reviewed journals, and regional peer-reviewed journals. She has presented nationally at association conferences on research areas of interest related to chronic pain, neuroscience, and trauma. She maintains an active membership in state and national associations related to the field of counseling and Brainspotting.
